Metro Detroit Weather: Some Thunderstorms Possible Wednesday, but Severe Storms Not Likely

Storms Not Expected to be Severe

Metro Detroiters can expect to see some thunderstorms on Wednesday, but severe weather is not anticipated, according to the National Weather Service. The storms are expected to roll in late Wednesday afternoon and continue into the evening, with rain and possibly some lightning and thunder.

When to Expect the Storms

The storms are expected to begin around 4 p.m. and last until about 10 p.m. The heaviest rain is expected to fall between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

What to Expect

The storms are expected to bring heavy rain, possible lightning and thunder, and wind gusts up to 30 mph. There is also a slight chance of hail.

What to Do

If you are caught in a thunderstorm, the National Weather Service recommends that you seek shelter in a sturdy building. If you are outside, stay away from tall objects and open water. If you are driving, pull over to the side of the road and wait for the storm to pass.
